Ayortha’s culture of singing and all things related to it was so beautiful. Aza becomes beautiful, but still remains self-conscious about herself. Were the editors interns?

Csrson often found myself forgetting I was even reading the story of snow white because I was swept up so much in the story itself. One of the awesome things about Ella Enchanted was that GCL showed This book was somewhat charming in that typical YA way, except I couldn’t help compare it to Ella Enchanted, and it didn’t measure up.

Though she does not learn who her biological parents were, zhamM manages to find out that they are distant relatives through a mutual great-great-great grandmother. One, however, becomes the villain, and the other, the heroine. This is a retelling of Snow White, but loosely in firest opinion.

Spirited novel offers warts-and-all view of the Middle Ages. She’s not a flawless, saintly character either. I don’t love Fairest as much as Ella Enchantedbut I still find this is one of those classic fairy-tale retellings that deserves repeated reads.

Aza, like Snow White, has white skin, red lips and black hair – but unlike Snow White, this does not make her beautiful in prevailing Ayorthaian standards; on the contrary, she considers herself ugly and is so considered by nearly everybody except for Prince Ijori. I admit that I didn’t initially find her all that interesting, and for some reason, at the beginning of the story especially, I had trouble believing she truly was as horribly ugly as she and certain others seemed to think she was.
