The rich rabble is the gambler par excellence, the one who lives through the contingency of winnings, needing nobody but his wealth, which he is always afraid will slip away.
The problem with this approach is that it ignores the different motivations behind each of their accounts. However, a number of features of Frank Ruda’s outstanding study set it apart from its predecessors. Admittedly, Ruda quickly sketches all of this at eabble very end of Hegel’s Rabble.
