There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Great but crazy expensive. One person found this helpful. Revised, I went to work conversed with my networking team and I had to get there special cable from Cisco in order to get in reset the IP and change settings.
This still is up acceptable that this wasn’t reset before being shipped out. I added an extra star because I was able to salvage this purchase. I didn’t see anything saying this was as is so I was expecting to be reset to factory default, and it is not.
I have my network on I was like okay I borrowed two a serial port for still no deal. I am thinking well in the most emergency of cases I can trace it back and see what IP is there and how to reset swiych. Doing my packet sniff all I get switvh Spanning-Tree call backs which lets me know this wasn’t reset to factory defaults.
Also there isn’t a way on the switch to that with out accessing it through serial port. I originally purchased a Netgear GST. I had constant connection problems with certain ports, and Netgear tech support is useless.
Cisco Port 10// Managed Gigabit Switch SRW B&H
I got the Linksys SRW The switching worked out-of-the-box, so I’m happy switcn to keep it. But the Webview doesn’t work at all, which is irritating. I give it 3 stars. Could be worse like Netgear’s product.
Could be better fully functional. WebView work only in IE6! Log in with the menu system, using a valid, existing, account. Type in “lcli” Light-weight Command Line Interface? However, they are password protected.
The password is probably hard-coded into the firmware.
Perhaps just an alias for the menu interface? Log in once again, with the same credentials which you used before.
Srw248 are now in a light-weight Cisco-like CLI mode. Commands are committed immediately. To turn off console logging, which can be quite disturbing, issue the config command “no logging console”.
If you want to know ciscco how many hidden gems these switches have, just SNMP walk the full index. If only there was a MIB available to swich decrypt some of the mystery. I purchased this switch as an upgrade from a woefully outdated Cisco While it certainly does a good job for my small network, I really can’t see this thing in an enterprise environment. First of all, there are a lot of different Windows settings you need to modify to make the Webview work.
Since it is sitting on a desk right next to a machine with a serial port this isn’t a deal breaker but I like all the features on something to work.
Second, mine came with an older release of the firmware which had a nice little problem — if you gave the switch conflicting settings, you would send it into an endless cycle of reboots which is difficult to stop.
After upgrading to the most recent firmware, this ciscl to have gone away. Thirdly, the build quality of this isn’t like other Cisco products. Enough sgw2048 all the bad, it is very fast for web traffic, file sharing etc As soon as I hammered out the firmware problem, it was a drop in replacement for my old switch. I appreciate the fact that the SRW is much quieter than my Catalyst was. It has been rock solid stable, and insanely fast. I am getting megabyte not megabit per second transfers over the network between computers.
Before, backing my computers up over the network was a giant pain because my old switch topped out at 1.

With this switch, the only limit is the speed of the hard drives in the computers. At about megabytes per second, Windows resource monitor shows about mbps of network usage — meaning there is room for that much more again if I get faster hard drives. And did I mention it’s quiet?
If this switch keeps up the great performance, I’m going to have to change my review to 5 stars. This is pretty good switch. It does negotiate to a gigabit speed but we’ve determined the actual throughput is below the advertized.
It worked in ours but Ah, unnecessary thing – you may need to do it once and leave it at that. Good, stable switch for the money. See all 7 reviews. Pages with related products.
