A victim of the pesticides the farm owners recklessly sprayed over the fields where poor, Mexican American immigrants picked fruits and vegetables, Cerezita is literally a head on a platter. I’ve never read anything like this before. She is a prophetic figure, willing to see and speak, because seeing sanits speaking are all she can do, and to name the evils that others prefer to call the will of God. Because of this and the subjects dealt within, a lot of people would be turned off to Moraga’s wonderful plays.
